Big 7Rally
My first time at a full scooter rally, although I only went Saturday during the day.
Organised by the Big 7, at the South of England Showground. Now I have been here
many times, mainly for autojumbles, but I was amazed at the transformation, with a
very organised camping, and a glamping area.
A small shopping village included scooter repair cenre, then the main hall with Custom
and classic scooter show, which was due to open at 12. Then in the big open barns
were the food and bar and entertainment area.
As a scooter rally there were less mod style scoots that you see at other events
such as brighton, lots of 300s as many carry luggage and 2 riders. The groups were
not just local too. Definitely more skin and ska style riders.
Now compaired to any bike rally I was amazed how tidy this all was, and the bar did
not have masses of real ales but more shorts and lagers, and there was a good supply
of mixed food stalls and plenty of seating.
Leaving the first flow of visitors to the show to die off there were some amazing
customs, I personally loved the reggae style scooter, the panels on scooters do allow
some great murals.
It was nice to meet some followers when having a cuppa too, while listening to a
solo singer.
It was a great event and a shame I couldnt stay longer as photos from friends show
it was a great night. But I can only wander so far, and a sunny day called for a cool
ride home.
